The visit to Baiwan has always turned out to be an extremely rewarding experience for
IS students. The following are some comments written by Group 2004 at the end of the trip:
-
I had so much fun teaching the children without knowing Chinese.
-
The kids were really friendly even though we didn’t understand each other, they tried their best to try communicating with us.
-
I will never forget a moment when we were leaving and two girls whom we taught started crying, ......
- Still remember the day when I felt down, ......
- Knowing you’re the only one who’s not Chinese for miles, being the object of their interest is amazing.
- This frightening experience was no doubt the toilets. ......
- All the people were happy and didn’t need to worry as much, so most people look on the bright side more often.
- I was not expecting such a marvelous week after seeing the video on an assembly.
- On the last day, I was teaching the 5 th grade kids, I felt like crying ......
- It shows how lucky I am to live in HK and have many opportunities open to me e.g. going to Island School .
- By simply being in Baiwan you’ll become a celebrity.
- Watching these little children absorbing everything we said was an amazing experience, considering how much attention we pay in classes.
- When the bell signals the end of the break, all the kids run back to class.
- Realising that a simple “Hello” or “Bye Bye” has touched their lives is just one of the many memories, experiences and thoughts I have returned with.
- The friendliness of the children, the lifestyle, the school life, the exercise (walking to the schools) are so overwhelming that .....
- Departing from Hung Hom bus station at 2:00 , little did I know that I was about to leave for possibly the most unforgettable trips in my lifetime.
- Bearing in mind our groups past experiences with teaching we were somewhat doubtful of our ability to teach and deliver a lesson to a class. ......
