  • In March 2008, two thousand pairs of shoes were donated to Baiwan. With the help of local school teachers, Island School teachers and volunteers helped to distribute two-third of these shoes to primary students. The rest of the shoes will be distributed to young children in the villages during the next visit in June.

  • In December 2007, a small Island School group visited Baiwan. They bought new glass windows for Nan An Primary School. They sponsored the cost of accommodation for 18 boarders in Baiwan Secondary School. They paid for the printing cost of an English book which aims to help students better use their textbook. They paid for the registration fee of a village boy who will then eligible to enjoy free education until Secondary 3. They paid for the salary of a new kitchen helper who will look after the boarders at Bei An Primary School. They brought school bags for students in Xi Wang Primary School. They also brought some toys, stationery and candies for the children in the Sunbeam Children’s Home.

  • In October 2007, 34 Island School teachers and students visited Baiwan. They taught in various schools, visited some local villages and had basketball matches with Baiwan Secondary School and Nan An Primary School. They paid for the new wiring system of the teaching block, and cost of renovating the student dormitory of Bei An Primary School. The group sponsored two sisters, who used to walk 3 hours everyday to go to school, to stay in the dormitory. They also sponsored the school fees of 5 students from the same school.

  • In July 2007, a group of Island School staff, students and other interested people visited Baiwan. They taught in Hao Qiang Primary School and Bei An Primary School. They sponsored Hao Qiang Primary School to replace more muddy ground with a concrete pathway.
  • In October 2006, 9 Island School teachers and students visited Baiwan. They taught in Hao Qiang primary school and Baiwan Secondary School. They visited some local families. They brought woolly scarves, hats and stationery for students in Hao Qiang Primary School. They bought PE equipment for Baiwan Secondary School. They donated 30 desks for the computer room in Bei An Primary School. They also sponsored to build a pathway in Hao Qiang Primary School.

  • In December 2005, 11 Island School teachers and students visited Baiwan. They taught in various primary schools and visited some local families. They brought woolly scarves and hats for all students in Bei Jian Primary School. They bought stationery and PE equipment for Nan An Primary School. They also donated some money for the new dormitory of Baiwan Secondary School.
  • In October 2005, 33 Island School teachers and students visited Baiwan. They taught in various schools, visited some local villages and had basketball matches with Baiwan Secondary School and Nan An Primary School. The group sponsored five children to start schooling in Bei An Primary School. They paid for the electricity network in the new dormitory of Baiwan Secondary School. They bought new basketball frames for Hao Qiang Primary School. They bought exercises books and stationery for Nan An Primary School.
  • In June 2005, 3 Island School teachers visited Baiwan and sponsored Bei An Primary School to build a new badminton court.
  • In November 2004, 25 Island School teachers and students visited Baiwan for a week. They worked at Xi Wang Primary School, Nan An Primary School, Hao Qiang Primary School , Bei An Primary School and Bai Wan Secondary School . They sponsored Baiwan Secondary School to build the new hostel for boarding students. They bought new chairs and desks for the computer room in Hao Qiang Primary School , and sponsored the school to build a rain shelter for students’ bicycles.
  • In December 2003, we sponsored Bei An Primary School to build a short wall outside the main entrance to prevent children from falling down the hill

  • In November 2003, 24 Island School teachers and students visited Baiwan for a week. They worked at Xi Wang Primary School, Nan An Primary School, Hao Qiang Primary School, Bei An Primary School and Bai Wan Secondary School. They bought library books for Nan An Primary School and a printer for Hao Qiang Primary School.

  • In July 2003, Jiu Zhang Publishing Co. donated over one thousand mathematics books to all schools in Baiwan and the Feng Xia Middle School.

  • In December 2002, a small party of Island School teacher and volunteers visited Bai Wan. Island School paid for the new music rooms in Nan An and Hao Qiang Primary School. Bai Wan Secondary School also received donation to install new cables from the town’s power supply to the school to support the operation of the new computer room.

  • In October 2002, 16 Island School teachers and students visited Baiwan for a week. They worked at Xi Wang Primary School, Nan An Primary School, Hao Qiang Primary School, Bei An Primary School and Bai Wan Secondary School. They donated the RMB left over to Bai Wan once they had crossed the border of the Hong Kong SAR.

  • In June 2002, some UPD fellows of HKU visited Baiwan. They taught some lessons in Bai Wan Secondary School and Bei An Primary School. They also visited the Feng Xia Middle School in Qing Yuan.

  • In March 2002, a small party of Island School teachers and volunteers visited Bai Wan. They bought a TV and more Art and Music equipment for Xi Wan Primary School. They also worked with the children in Bei An Primary School and Bai Wan Secondary School. A new computer room was set up in Bai Wan Secondary School and some teachers received computer training in the area of networking.

  • January 2002, a small party of Island School teachers visited Baiwan. They helped to equip the new technology building for Xi Wang Primary School. They bought PE and art equipment, desks and chairs in the Science lab and the Art room, and the stage in the Music room. Hao Qiang Primary School also got a new sand pit as well.

  • October 2001, 54 Island School staff and students visited Baiwan for a week. They worked at Xi Wang Primary School, Nan An Primary School, Bai Wan Secondary School and Hao Qiang Primary School. To provide the first ever proper music lesson in Baiwan, they bought 25 electronic keyboards in Qing Yuan and left them with the schools they visited. They donated the RMB left over to Baiwan once they had crossed the border of the Hong Kong SAR.

  • July 2001, a small party of Island School teachers visited Baiwan. They bought PE equipment and a new computer for Hao Qiang Primary School and paid for the drenches project of Bei An Primary School.

  • April 2001, a small party of Island School teachers, students and parents visited Baiwan. They visited all seven primary schools in Baiwan. They also bought PE equipment and a new computer for Nan An Primary School. On the way back to Hong Kong, they also visited the Feng Xia Middle School in Qing Yuan.

  • December 2000, a small party of Island School teachers visited Baiwan and provided the resources for establishing the Junior Pioneer Squad for Hao Qiang Primary School.

  • October 2000, a group of about 50 Island School staff and students visited Baiwan for a week. They worked at the Sunbeam Children’s Village, Nan An Primary School and Hao Qiang Primary School.

  • October 99, a group of about 40 Island School staff and students visited Baiwan for a week. They worked at the Sunbeam Children’s Village, Nan An Primary School and Hao Qiang Primary School.

  • October 98, a group of about 20 Island School teachers and students visited Baiwan for a week. They worked at the Sunbeam Children’s Village and Nan An Primary School.
